Thence via the Crow's Foot to Starveall and returning past Dumworth Farm to St Mary's Church where Tea and Cake will be available to purchase\, in company with the famous Aldworth Giants. No stiles but some tracks can be stony. Far reaching views over the Downs. Elevation/descent of around 360ft. Alternatively just join us at the church (SU 554 794) for Tea/Cake at ca 3.15pm. DO NOT take the RH turning in Back Lane to Rushalls Farm – carry on until sign to RUSHALLS MANOR FARM. \nThe short walk will start across fields down to the River Pang for a gentle stroll along the banks of this beautiful little river to Bradfield and back. The walk is completely flat and will be taken at a leisurely pace. \nBack at the delightful Black Barn\, we will join those on the longer walk for our Pang Valley Picnic. There are picnic tables and toilets provided as well as cover if we have a rain shower. The 850 bus from central Reading to Twyford\, get off at Waitrose (at their cafe side) on London Road. Turn right from bus stop to walking west along London Road towards traffic lights. Cross at traffic lights heading south and walk along Waltham Road. Then take 2nd exit off roundabout\, continuing south on Waltham Road.  Take the next left hand turn into Stanlake Park Wine Estate. Approximately – 22 minute walk from central Twyford to Stanlake Park Wine Estate. Train from Reading Station to Twyford station Exit Twyford Station heading east along Station Road.  Right turn onto Waltham Road . Cross Waltham Road at traffic lights . Continue south along Waltham Road to roundabout. Take 2nd exit off roundabout\, and continue along Waltham Road.  Take next left hand turn into Stanlake Park Wine Estate. Approximately 18 minute walk from Twyford Station to Stanlake Park Wine Estate. John\, the church historian will provide a  longer briefing at Ruscombe Church.

After a break for lunch at the stations (Greggs and other outlets)  we walk through Bloomsbury and Hatton Garden to take the Elizabeth line back to Paddington and/or Reading. All paved paths and mud unlikely.

Meet on road bridge above Theale station (train from Reading or No 1 bus alight at Crown Inn and follow Station Rd for 0.3 miles to the station). The undulating walk will follow footpaths and quiet lanes to Burghfield Common and onto Mortimer visiting St Mary’s church Sulhampstead along the way. We will finish walking around lunch time. If desired bring a packed lunch to eat at the end or there is a cafe or Horse and Groom pub in Mortimer. Return by bus 2/2a to central Reading via Burghfield Rd (1/2 hourly service).
