The PVR held another very successful event in its social calendar on Friday 5th February at Pangbourne Village Hall, when another sell-out group of sixty members and guests enjoyed an evening of mind-stretching questions broken only by delicious freshly-fried fish & chips ferried from the local chippy in Pangbourne.
Again we had ten teams of six with scores collected at the end of each round, the quiz-master keeping a score and announcing our tables position in the “league of tables” after each round. Each table’s answers were marked by another table to avoid any cheating – not that anyone would dare to! There were five rounds of fiendishly difficult questions which ranged from 1960’s songs some thought they knew to identifying cartoon characters and asking in which country the composer Liszt was from, all of which led to much head scratching, especially as we tried to recall who was who in the cartoons we all watched with our children years ago!
Our thanks to the committee members for the organisation. This was a DIY evening when all rallied round to set up the hall and at the end to collapse it all again in record time. The Master of Ceremonies, our treasurer, presented the generous prizes to the quiz and raffle winners. The quiz team again was the marvellous Woolven-Allen family who the PVR thank for the wonderful variety of questions – but can they be a bit easier next year, please?
