Twenty three members walked in the Elan Valley, Powys over the weekend of June 12th-14th with some staying on for a further two days. There were two walking groups, one enjoying the lower terrain and the other exploring the upper mountain tops. For both groups the views were wonderful across expanses of moorland and lakes with wide open vistas. The reservoirs supply water to Birmingham and most were built in the late 19th century with the last big dam being constructed in 1952. The whole area was vast, unspoilt and beautiful. Our accommodation was good with most of us enjoying a room with own en-suite facility. The food was excellent, good home cooking, plentiful in quantity. Tea/coffee/cake/biscuits were available 24 hours a day which we all put to good use. The staff were so helpful and easy to deal with and our walk leaders were very knowledgeable; a shepherd, a Ranger and a wild life expert. This was a holiday to remember for all of the right reasons.
