Fifteen Pang Valley members were picked up in Sonning Common and Pangbourne and went by a delightful small coach/minibus to Cheriton from where we walked to Hinton Ampner. Some of the group continued for a day at the National Trust property, Hinton Ampner, some set off on a five mile walk and some went ten miles. It was a beautiful day and the rolling countryside in late summer was at its best. We were kindly escorted by some of the local Ramblers Group, friends of our Chairman. They had interesting information about the history of the area which they imparted as we walked.
We arrived at Hinton Ampner to find the property covered with scaffolding and being re-re-roofed. Some intrepid ramblers took up climbing for an hour for a tour of the roof and the lovely views from there.
Coach trips provide a means of getting to other areas for a day for walking or even just visiting a site or a city. If any members have any suggestions of where we might go for a day next spring and summer, please let a member of your committee know!
There are lots more photo in the Meon Valley Gallery.
