Pang Valley Ramblers’ first social event of this year was our signature event of a Fish and Chip Supper and Quiz Night. We had a full house with sixty enthusiastic members and friends in ten teams of six.
Our “quizmaster and family” prepared a great quiz with a wide selection of questions, on a wide range of subjects to tax us. It was exciting with many teams in close competition but towards the end of the rounds Sue and Gordon’s team won by a few points.
Fish and chips were collected from Ali’s fish and chip shop in Pangbourne and were served quickly to the “runners” so not too long a wait for hungry punters back in the Village Hall. 63 fish and chips is a big order, but it was well managed. Some had brought their own drinks, others had the tea and coffee provided by Kay along with salt and vinegar and such sundries. Brian organised the sound system and all the committee and helpers assisted with setting up, clearing up, collecting the suppers, running the raffle, buying the prizes. These events don’t happen by themselves – it was a good team effort! We also took the opportunity to advertise future events happening in the Pang Valley Ramblers Group.
