Skittles Evening – April 2019

Thirty two Pang Valley Ramblers gathered at the Wallingford Sports Park at 7pm for a thoroughly enjoyable evening playing skittles.

Sue and Gordon and Tom and Sarah helped set up the games and John, Michael, Tom,  Alistair, Tricia and Diana helped reset the skittles.

We played 3 rounds before the meal.

The participants were split into two teams A and B. Partners were placed in opposing teams and genders split as evenly as possible. I can’t remember the exact scores but Team A scored in the 180s and Team B scored in the 170s. As the result was very close, the box of Celebrations was shared round everyone.

We broke for our meal at 8.30pm – fish and chips or curry and rice, poppadums and chutney, with mushroom wellington for the vegetarians. A mixed salad was also available plus lots of extra chips!

A bar was available for the purchase of alcohol and soft drinks.

After a very enjoyable supper, Gordon set up the second game of “Killer”. Each person put £1 into the kitty. Each participant had one bowl in turn. If they failed to knock any pins down, they lost a “ life”. Once 3 “lives” had been lost they were out. The game continued and Marlene emerged as the winner and was awarded the kitty .

The venue was very spacious and I have had some very positive feedback about the evening – something to consider again for next year.
