Sue and Gordon awarded Ramblers’ Commendations November 2020

Pang Valley Ramblers is delighted to announce that Sue and Gordon have each been given Rambler’s Commendation Awards.

Sue and Gordon have been part of the glue that has held our group together since its inception in 1995. They were present at the first meeting, and they remain enthusiastic members of the group, not only leading walks, but also major players in organising our walking and social events. They were active committee members for a while, but their more prominent recent role has been their willing organisation of numerous Autumn Walking Breaks for the group, that includes a run of the last four mini-holidays. This involves sorting out the accommodation, planning the walks and handling the administration. These short holidays, usually within a hundred miles of our base, have become so popular because of their superb organisation that we have had to cap the numbers around 35. It is particularly interesting that several people who had been non-walking members for years first tried out walking with the group at one of these breaks and now walk regularly with us.

Sue is always involved with catering for group events, in particular baking an enormous themed cake for our 20th anniversary picnic and even providing all the food when the group celebrated Ray’s Ramblers’ commendation. Their contribution to the wellbeing of the group is tremendous.

Because of the Covid-19 situation is was only possible to present their awards recently and some photographs of the presentation are in the Gallery.
