Walking in Berkshire, Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley
PLEASE NOTE: The start of the walk on SUNDAY 7 AUGUST 2016 in UPPER BUCKLEBURY has been changed from BRIFF LANE to FANNYS LANE (SU535694). The revised details of the walk are:
Park in parking area on Fannys Lane to the north west of Upper Bucklebury. A circular walk looping to the north near Frilsham and returning via Bucklebury and Bucklebury Common. Please note that the walk can be very muddy in places following rain.
Due to a clash with the Henley Half Marathon also starting from the Henley Rugby Club, the Pang Valley Ramblers walk on Sunday will now start from the Waitrose CP in the centre of Henley with a delayed starting time of 10:15am.
As there will be no trains from Reading Station and the alternative bus travel is lengthy and unsuitable for getting to the starting point, the Windsor walk on 12 April 2015 has been CANCELLED.
However, there will be an alternative walk in the local Reading area, starting from Reading Railway Station (meeting in front of the pub) at the advertised time of 10:15AM
Due to deep mud and flooding on many of the Rights of Way in the Chapel Row/Bucklebury Common area it has been necessary to cancel the 7.5 mile walk from CHAPEL ROW at 10.30 on Sunday 8 March 2015.
PLEASE NOTE there is still a Group walk on 8 March. There is a 5-mile walk in our Walks Programme from ARBORFIELD CROSS at 10.30.
Because of tree felling in the beech woods near Nuney Green the route of the walk from Goring Heath on Saturday 21 February 2015 has been changed. The new route has no hills but there are 3 stiles.
Our Walks Programme listing walks for the following four months is published in November, March and July along with the Newsletter. These are emailed or posted to Pang Valley members.
Because of mud, water & fallen trees the walk on Wednesday 26 November 2014 has had to be reduced to 5 miles and re-routed through Calleva, Nine Acre Copse, The Devil’s Highway & Park Pale. There will be some quiet road sections, 1 stile, & some not too muddy stretches.
PLEASE NOTE: The start of the walk on WEDNESDAY 29 OCTOBER 2014 has been changed from AMBURY ROAD to the BELL PUBLIC HOUSE (SU653661) in Aldworth Village due to rutting, mud and flooding getting to the original start.
This should have referred to the walk on 28 September. My apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by this error.
Due to a vegetation problem the planned route has been changed. It will now follow the Holybrook and Kennet to Southcote Lock and return. This will be a totally flat walk.
