Meet in the car park on the recreation ground in Checkendon (opposite village hall RG8 0SR, what3words: withdrew.gossiping.helping). The walk is a mixture of undulating woodland and fields from Checkendon skirting around Stoke Row to Wyfold (old Borocourt Hospital) with its gothic architecture before returning to Checkendon through the woodland. One short steep downhill and corresponding uphill climb. Two stiles. Plenty of shade if hot. Optional pint and a sandwich at the Black Lion afterwards.
