This year’s Area AGM will be hosted by Loddon Valley Group at Barkham Village Hall, Church Lane (off Barkham Street), Barkham RG40 4PL on Saturday 29 November.
Before the AGM, there will be a 5 mile circular walk starting at 10:30am from Barkham Village Hall and from 12:30pm there will be tea/coffee and cake etc. available with tables and chairs for the morning walkers to eat their packed lunch.
The Area AGM meeting will start at around 2pm, followed by a talk by Pete Ellis about the final stage of his ascent of Everest in 2012. Pete is one of about 350 people who are Seven Summiteers: those who have climbed to the highest point of each of the seven continents. His ascent of Everest in 2012 was the final stage of this quest. His journey to the top of Everest from the less-frequented Tibetan side took him 2 months to complete and he will tell this story with the aid of a fascinating set of photographs. He has promised to keep his talk (including any questions) to under an hour.
