The next First Aid course for Ramblers in Berkshire is an evening course (6:30pm to 9:30pm) in the St John Ambulance Centre, Deadmans Lane, Theale (RG7 5FB) on Monday 27th April 2015. The Berkshire Area will continue to subsidise this course and the cost to the individual remains at £10. If anyone would like to attend please could you chair@lvra.org.uk.

2014-11-29 AREA AGM 2014 – UPDATE
This year’s Area AGM will be hosted by Loddon Valley Group at Barkham Village Hall, Church Lane (off Barkham Street), Barkham RG40 4PL on Saturday 29 November.
Before the AGM, there will be a 5 mile circular walk starting at 10:30am from Barkham Village Hall and from 12:30pm there will be tea/coffee and cake etc. available with tables and chairs for the morning walkers to eat their packed lunch.
The Area AGM meeting will start at around 2pm, followed by a talk by Pete Ellis about the final stage of his ascent of Everest in 2012. Continue reading

2014-05 MAP READERS AND LEADERSHIP COURSE
There is a course organised by one of the East Berks Group Walk Leaders which should help to improve OS map reading, and compass work. It will also cover basic leadership, so that in time the participants will be able to lead walks. This course should make them confident to read a local map, and find their way in normal weather conditions. (He does not propose to teach how to walk across Dartmoor in a fog!). 2014-06-07 ROYAL BERKS HOSPITAL FETE IN TILEHURST
On Saturday 7 June we have a stall at the League of Friends of the Royal Berkshire Hospital Annual Summer Fete in Tilehurst, which starts at 11:00am and finishes at 4:00pm. Please come along to support us and any help manning the stand would be gratefully appreciated. This is a good opportunity to publicise the Pang Valley Group and we might attract new members. 2014-03-18 BERKSHIRE RA MEMBERS FIRST AID COURSE
The next First Aid course for Ramblers Association members in Berkshire will be held on Tuesday 18 March 2014 at the St John Ambulance Training Centre, Church Road, Woodley, RG5 4QN. This is a 3 hour course that starts at 10am and will cover the basics on how to dress wounds, resuscitation and dealing with broken limbs, damaged muscles, choking, shock, heart attacks etc. Those who attend the course will get an Essential First Aid Certificate that is valid for 3 years. The Berkshire Area will continue to subsidise this course and the cost to the individual remains at £10.
