Once again, PVR have organised a coffee morning with optional lunch (purchase your own food and drink, alcohol or soft) on Friday 17th January 2025 from 11am at the Royal British Legion, Downing Road Tilehurst Reading RG31 5BB. Parking is available on site. Everyone is welcome, especially those in the group who no longer walk but wish to keep in touch with fellow members. An opportunity to socialise in the cold winter months.

Although it’s a long way ahead, Pang Valley’s next Fishy Quiz is booked for Friday 7th February 2025 at Pangbourne Village Hall from 7pm. Please save the date for now. Further details and booking form will be issued much nearer the time

We have booked the Pack Horse, Woodcote Road, Chazey Heath, Mapledurham, RG4 7UG, Tel: 0118 972 2140, at 12.30pm on Wednesday 11th December for the annual Pang Valley Christmas Lunch. A booking form will follow nearer the time. There will be an optional short walk beforehand, details of which will appear in the December 2024 – March 2025 walks programme. Please save the date in your diary.

We have organised a 2 night break from Thursday 19th September to Saturday 21st September 2024 at the Corner House Hotel Taunton.

Taunton is a town with plenty to do, including the newest motor museum featuring classic cars. There are also some nice gardens within driving distance such as Hestercombe and National Trust properties.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train station for those wishing to use public transport.

There will be a short walk on Thursday afternoon, a choice of a long or short walk on the Friday and Saturday day, although a taxi maybe required to return to Taunton if only doing the shorter version due to limited rural public transport.

Please come along to the PVR social on Tuesday 9th January at the British Legion in Downing Road, Tilehurst. Coffee available from 11 am, lunches from 12 noon. It’s an opportunity for those members who no longer walk to meet socially but of course, everyone is very welcome. Hope to see you there.

Berkshire Area AGM

The Berkshire Area AGM will be held at Reading School, Erleigh Road, Reading RG1 5LW. It will be hosted by Loddon Valley. The schedule is as follows:

09.30am Hall opens for the start of walk, 8.5 mile, which includes the Kennet and the Thames.   Also for displays to be set up

10.30am Start of 4 mile walk which will be around Reading University

13.00pm Lunch in hall, bring your own picnic.   Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake and biscuits will be provided

14.00pm Talk by Peter Innes from Reading University about Climate Change and its impact on the natural world

15.00pm AGM

16.00pm Trustee Question and Answer
