REGRETFULLY WE HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THIS HOLIDAY AS TOO FEW PARTICIPANTS SIGNED UP.
The details for the Pang Valley walking holiday next year are below. We are going to Mairena, Alpujarras, Andalucía, Spain from 20th April to 27th April 2017.
The holiday is carefully tailored for us, Pauline and Alistair have been there. We need to act quickly to get this booked so could you please decide as soon as possible.
Please contact Alistair and Pauline if you are interested – chairman@pvramblers.org.uk
Mairena is perched on the side of a hill, with spectacular views. We shall be staying at La
Chimeneas (https://laschimeneas.com/index.php?page=home), a collection of village houses run
by a British couple, David and Emma Illsley. The walking therefore involves quite a lot of up and
down, but the programme they have devised includes walks with pick-ups, or transport to the
start that will mitigate this – to some degree. The holiday also includes activities in the village, and
we will be there for the San Marcos Festival on Saturday 22nd April.
Flights
Several airlines travel to Malaga. Flights are now bookable, but prices are likely to increase day by
day. We will arrange for David Illsley to collect from Malaga at 13.35 for those on:
British Airways flight BA2714 Gatwick to Malaga leaving 09.45 on 20/4/17, returning on
British Airways flight BA2715 Malaga to Gatwick leaving 14.20 on 27/4/17.
The current (6.4.16) cost per person (with hold baggage) is £128, but this price will rise.
Organisation and booking
The holiday will be viable if 12 people book. We need to get 12 definite bookings in the next two
weeks, or the holiday will not be viable and will be cancelled. There is a maximum of around 20,
and single rooms are limited to a maximum of 3 at this stage. There may be further places
available, but these individuals would need to sleep in other properties around the village – this
particularly applies to single rooms. Members wishing to go on this holiday are responsible for
booking the flights themselves, travelling to Gatwick and also arranging their own insurance.
The booking process will be:
Send £120 per person to the Pang Valley Treasurer, contact him on treasurer@pvramblers.org.uk, as soon as possible to register commitment to the holiday and for an address to send your cheque or contact the chairman, Alistair (email above). This deposit will be non-refundable, unless we have to cancel the holiday because of insufficient interest.
When we have viable numbers committed, we will notify you and you will be responsible for
booking your flights which should then be done immediately. You will pay the balance one month
prior to the trip.
Attendees will be collected from Malaga – the drive takes 2½ hours. Anyone arriving at another
time will have to make their own arrangements to travel to Mairena.
All further correspondence will be by email.
The costs for accommodation:
Cost for stay at La Chimeneas
Per person sharing (double or twin), including 5 packed lunches €795
To include collection from Malaga, all guides and activities apart from those listed below and all
transport
Single person supplement €250
