Due to considerable standing water and deep mud in the area the walk from Upper Woolhampton on Sunday 23 February 2014 has been cancelled.
WALK ON SUNDAY 16 FEBRUARY 2014 – CANCELLED
Due to flooding the walk from Sonning Eye to Henley on Sunday 16 February 2014 has been cancelled.
WHITCHURCH BRIDGE CLOSURE – RE-OPENING DATE PUT BACK
Work on the dismantling of the old bridge has had to stop because of the ongoing heavy rains and the high river levels. The Whitchurch Bridge Company regrets to announce that the re-opening of the Bridge to road traffic has been put back from 14th April 2014 (the originally advertised date) to July 2014. There is a temporary bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. Further details can be found on Whitchurch Bridge Website.

Due to the recent bad weather and the forecast of more rain, the walk in Ipsden and Hailey has been cancelled.
FLOOD NEWS: WALK ON SUNDAY 2 FEBRUARY 2014 – CHANGE OF START
The route as advertised is impassible as the Thames is flooded. It will still start and stop at the Red lion but walk a more country walk to avoid the floods. The revised details are as follows:
Start gridref: SU596761 Start time: 10am Distance: 7 miles
Description: Park in the CP of the Red Lion PH, Upper Basildon if having lunch. Otherwise park in road opposite. Meet at 10.00 am for a 7 mile walk through Hare Green to Ashampstead, to Quick’s Green, then back through the woods returning to the Red Lion in time for lunch. Phone Red Lion 01491 671234 mentioning Pang Valley Rambling Group if having lunch. Bring a flask. NOTE EARLIER START. Route has been altered due to flooding of the River Thames.

FISH AND CHIP SUPPER & CURRY NIGHT
The Group’s new social initiatives have proved far more popular than the Committee envisaged.
As a result, the number of people booked for the Quiz and Fish & Chip Supper on Friday 7th February has now reached the total we can accommodate and therefore the event is fully booked. For those who have already booked this is also a reminder that cold drinks (and glasses) should be brought. Coffees and teas will be provided.
For the Curry Night Special on Wednesday 19th March, there are only 9 spaces available.
2014-03-18 BERKSHIRE RA MEMBERS FIRST AID COURSE
The next First Aid course for Ramblers Association members in Berkshire will be held on Tuesday 18 March 2014 at the St John Ambulance Training Centre, Church Road, Woodley, RG5 4QN. This is a 3 hour course that starts at 10am and will cover the basics on how to dress wounds, resuscitation and dealing with broken limbs, damaged muscles, choking, shock, heart attacks etc. Those who attend the course will get an Essential First Aid Certificate that is valid for 3 years. The Berkshire Area will continue to subsidise this course and the cost to the individual remains at £10. This year’s Area AGM will be hosted by Loddon Valley Group at Barkham Village Hall on Saturday 29 November. After the walk and the AGM there will be a talk by Pete Ellis who is one of about 350 people who are Seven Summiteers: i.e. those who have climbed to the highest point on each of the seven continents. 2013-02-07 FISHY QUIZ – Complete with Chips
Pang Valley Ramblers first social event of the New Year will be a Fish and Chip Supper including a General Knowledge Quiz! This will be held at Pangbourne Village Hall (where there is ample free parking) on Friday 7 February. Doors will be open at 7.00pm; the quiz will start at 7.30pm and a fish and chip supper (vegetarian option available) will be served during the interval. Free tea and coffee will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own drink (alcoholic or otherwise). There will, of course, be the obligatory raffle.
